I am so excited to launch our new online shop and postal service, you can now receive our scrummy Welsh Cakes where ever you live in the UK.
Picau ar y Maen (Welsh Cakes) are a traditional Welsh treat that have been cooked in Welsh kitchens on griddles for centuries. The main base of the recipe I use is from my Nan (May's) recipe with my own addition of flavours that complement each other and offer a twist on this Welsh classic.
Welsh Cakes are perfect with a nice cup of tea, they can be warmed and buttered lightly or spread with jam. However, in the words of Mark Darcy from one of my favourite films, Bridget Jones, I love them 'Just the way they are.'
We are always looking at ways to expand our business, reach out to more customers and improve the service we provide. What I didn't want was to compromise on flavour or presentation so it was important to ensure that the packaging stood up to the postal service and that the Welsh Cakes would arrive promptly. I also wanted packaging that fitted through the letter box, so customers didn't have to wait in for a delivery (didn't want much did I?). After several postal trials to various friends around the UK I finally found packaging and a service that I was happy with.
They make such a lovely gift. We've already posted some out for birthdays, to celebrate engagements and one box just to let grandparents know that they are loved (too cute).
